

SB | Nine Gaels Receive Academic Honor from NFCA

MORAGA, Calif. — The Saint Mary's softball team was recognized for their achievements in the classroom this past year as nine Gaels were selected as National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar Athletes. To qualify for the award, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative 3.5 grade point average or above on a 4.0 scale over both semesters of the 2020-21 academic year.

It's the second time this summer a number of SMC softball student-athletes have been honored for their academics. In June, Chew was named to the All-WCC Academic Team while Earle, Waters, Kayla Scott, and Indya Smith were named All-WCC Academic Honorable Mentions.

- Marissa Woolsey, 3.50 GPA
- Reyna Heredia, 3.50 GPA
- Sofia Earle, 3.55 GPA
