WTEN | Kozyreva Claims Singles Title at Cal Winter Invite

BERKELEY, Calif. - Mariia Kozyreva of Saint Mary's Women's Tennis earned the Cal Winter Invite Singles Title by virtue of her 3-0 record at court number one's singles matches. No. 74 Kozyreva defeated Haley Giavara of Cal 3-6, 7-5, 6-0 on Sunday to win her third match of the invite after defeating Finley Kalinic of Santa Clara 6-1, 6-2 on day one and Kim Bhunu of Cal Poly 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 on day two.

The Gaels also swept the doubles portion of day three against Cal Poly going a perfect 4-0. Kozyreva and Jocelyn Massey topped Emily Ackerman and Bhunu 8-4, Jordan Harris and Julia Ronney defeated Laura Bente and Delanie Dunkle 8-6, Olivia Rook and Stephanie Silva beat Melissa LeMette and Peyton Dunkle 8-6, and Lene Mari Hovda and Gabriela Tevez took down Eliza Bates and Shreya Ravilla 8-5.

Cal's Haley Giavara and Valentina Ivanov were named the doubles champs based on their record (2-0) at court-one doubles.
