WTEN | Three-Straight Wins for Gaels After Beating USF

MORAGA, Calif. – Saint Mary's Women's Tennis has now won three-straight matches and four of their last five after a 5-2 win over the University of San Francisco on Saturday. The Gaels are now 6-6 overall in dual match play after the win over the Dons at the Korth Tennis Courts
The Gaels tied up the doubles competition 1-1 when the No. 36 tandem in the country of Jordan Harris and Mariia Kozyreva got a 6-4 win over Rita Colyer and Martinez Vaquero. The Dons would win the final doubles match to take the point, but it would be all Saint Mary's from there.
SMC would run off four straight victories on the singles side. Lene Mari Hovda defeated Caragh Courtney convincingly 6-0, 6-1 followed by Julia Ronney beating Chiho Mushika 6-4, 7-5. Harris topped Simran Chhabra 6-4, 6-3 and her doubles teammate, No. 49 Kozyreva, defeated Vaquero 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 to seal the win for the Gaels.
The Dons would get one singles win on the day, but Saint Mary's would finish the day strong, as Gabriela Tevez beat Colyer 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 to make it a 5-2 win for the Gaels.

The Gaels will continue WCC play with an 11 a.m. match at Santa Clara on Sunday, March 27.
