ABOUT CAL POLY
The Mustangs feature one of the youngest lineups in Division I men's soccer, but return six goal scorers from last season's Big West Conference regular season runner-up.
Â
Cal Poly has 39 combined freshmen and sophomores among its 45-man roster, while still welcoming back 12 letter winners from a 2021 squad that finished 7-6-4 overall and 5-1-3 and with 18 points in the Big West standings. Last year's Cal Poly squad also set a program record with just 0.88 goals allowed per game.
Â
The Gaels lost 2-1 to the Mustangs in Moraga, Calif. last season and are just 5-12-2 all time against Cal Poly. However, SMC did win their previous meeting before last season against Cal Poly, defeating the Mustangs 4-0 in 2018.
