DAVIS, Calif. – Saint Mary's Women's Basketball fell behind by double digits midway through the second quarter and weren't able to comeback against UC Davis in an 87-66 loss to the Aggies on Sunday afternoon.

UC Davis shot 55.6% in the game to SMC's 44.6% and had a 35-23 rebounding advantage over the Gaels, as the Aggies would beat Saint Mary's to loose balls or long rebounds.

The Gaels avoided being down by nine after the first quarter of play when
Ali Bamberger hit a three pointer to cut it six shortly before the quarter ended it to trail just 19-13.

After the Aggies went up by 12 on a three-pointer with 5:27 to go in the half, the Gaels went on a little run of their own to cut it back to seven. With the Gaels down by 14, baskets by
Leia Hanafin and
Emily Foy were followed by a three from
Addison Wedin to make it just a 31-24 deficit with 2:48 to go in the second. But a three-pointer from Evanne Turner on her way to a 23-point game capped the half to put UC Davis back up by 13 at the break.

Bamberger hit a three to start the second half to cut it to 10 at 39-29, but Saint Mary's was never able to trim the deficit below double digits from there and trailed by as many as 30 late in the fourth quarter.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Bamberger led the Gaels in scoring with 16 points.
Emily Foy led the team in rebounds with seven, and
Zeryhia Aokuso had the team-high in assists with five.
