SPOKANE, Wash. – Saint Mary's Women's Basketball shot well from three-point range to keep themselves in the game against Gonzaga before the Bulldogs pulled away for an 89-60 defeat of the Gaels on Saturday afternoon.

Gaels shot just 33% to Zags 54% in first quarter and committed two more turnovers to find themselves down eight after one quarter of play. But Addison Wedin would catch fire in the second quarter, as a three pointer and then a back-door layup by Wedin cut it to six early second. The redshirt sophomore had 14 points in the first half, and would finish with 16 points on 6 of 8 shooting, including 4 of 6 from deep.

Every time the Gaels would close the gap, however, the Zags would extend it right back with some hot three-point shooting of their own. A Wedin three made it a seven-point game with 4:22 to go in the half, before a 7-0 run by Gonzaga to put it back to 14. The Bulldogs would answer the next two SMC three pointers by Hannah Rapp and Wedin with threes of their own, including one off that glass at the halftime buzzer by Kayleigh Truong.

SMC was 8 of 17 (47%) from deep, but the Zags finished 14 of 31 (45%) to prevent the Gaels from keeping it a single-digit game. The Bulldogs would win each quarter and kept at least a 15-point lead throughout the rest of the game after a three pointer by Kaylynne Truong to start the second half.

Tayla Dalton led the Gaels with 17 points on 7 of 11 shooting, while Leia Hanafin would lead the team in rebounds with five.
