FRESNO, Calif. - The Saint Mary's women's tennis team went down to Fresno last weekend for a pair of matches against Stanislaus State and Fresno State. The Gaels came away 1-1 after a 4-1 victory over the Warriors before falling to the Bulldogs 4-1 on Sunday.

Saint Mary's swept every match on the day against Stanislaus State with the exception of a default win for the Warriors in singles play. Sofia Daryaie/Sophie Stanton and Madison Weekley/Elif Tuana Gunal recorded 6-1 6-2 doubles wins before the Gaels secured a trio of singles victories to win 4-1. Daryaie was perfect on the day after her straight sets singles win as well as Weekley. First-year Gael Sydney Wilson also picked up her first singles victory of the season, defeating Katrine Damkjaer 6-2 6-1.

Saint Mary's took that momentum into their dual with Fresno State on Sunday but fell to the Bulldogs 4-1. Wilson had the Gaels' lone point on the day, winning her singles match in three sets 1-6 6-2 6-2. Wilson was the only Gael to finish the two-match weekend unbeaten, recording her first two singles victories as a Gael. Elif Tuana Gunal and Madison Weekley were up 5-2 in their doubles match but with the absence of a third doubles team, Fresno State was able to clinch the doubles point after its 6-2 win over Daryaie and Stanton.
