3/21/2026 12:43:00 PM | Men's Golf
EUGENE, Ore. - The Saint Mary's men's golf team heads into the week with its best Clippd ranking of the season, at No. 58, ahead of the 2026 Duck Invitational. The Gaels have placed in the top-five in five of their eight events this year and two of their three events so far this spring.
This week, Saint Mary's will head to Eugene for the 36th annual Duck Invitational hosted by Oregon. The Gaels went to Eugene in 2025, where they took fifth place, and will return to Eugene Country Club this year in search of another quality finish in a deep, 15-team field. Prior to their appearance in the event last spring, the Gaels had not competed in the Duck Invitational since 2018.

LAST TIME OUT (4th place at R.E.L. Invitational)
Saint Mary's hung inside the top-five all week at the R.E.L. Invitational back on March 9. The Gaels backended their performance with a pair of 6-under-par rounds to start and conclude the event, and were able to overtake No. 28 San Diego State for a solo fourth place finish. In the opening round, the Gaels tore up the back nine, including a combined 7-under performance on the par-five 14th. They finished the morning round at 6-under as a team to sit in fourth place. Senior Aidan Lee looked like his old self with a stellar 68 (-4), featuring five birdies and an eagle to lead the way.
Saint Mary's battled to shoot 2-under-par in the afternoon round, as only four teams scored in red figures to end the day. The Gaels remained in fourth place and would hang onto that spot on Tuesday with another 6-under performance in the final round. Ironically enough, Lee was the drop score for Saint Mary's in round two but bounced back with a final round 69 (-3) for the team low round of the day, along with redshirt junior Inigo Izuzquiza. Izuzquiza matched Lee with a 69 of his own for his low round of the week, while redshirt freshman Sam Baumuller chipped in with a final round score of 71 (-1).
Saint Mary's led the tournament field in par-five scoring, with an average of 4.52, and were a combined 29-under-par over the three rounds. They also led the field with four eagles, and ranked third with 54 total birdies for another successful spring event. The Gaels' Clippd ranking has only climbed since the start of the spring season, and they'll look to continue that momentum this week in Eugene.
