LAST TIME OUT (t-4th place at El Macero Classic)
Saint Mary's battled to a fourth place finish in its final regular season event of the 2025-26 season back in early April at the El Macero Classic. Three of the top five teams in the field represented the WCC with the Pacific Tigers winning the team title at 3-under-par. Hardy and his group put together their best round of the week on the final day with a team score of 292 (+4) to remain in a tie for fourth place along with Washington State.
The course played tough for the entire field as Sunday's final round average score was 75.84, nearly four strokes over par. Aidan Lee and Inigo Izuzquiza were the team's low finishers in 16th place at 4-over-par. Lee carded a final round 71 (-1) which featured a pair of birdies over his final four holes to move into red figures. Izuzquiza had the other low round of the week for the Gaels with a 71 (-1) in round two which included five birdies.
Four of the five Gaels finished the 2025-26 campaign with a scoring average under 72 including a team best 71.0 from redshirt freshman Sam Baumuller.
WCC TOURNAMENT HISTORY
Saint Mary's will look for a bit of revenge in this year's conference tournament after missing out on the match play portion of the event with a playoff defeat to Pacific in 2025. The Tigers and Gaels were knotted after 54 holes over the first two days of the tournament with the top four teams advancing to match play on Sunday. Pacific overcame an eight-stroke deficit which featured a hole-out on the 17th and a birdie on the 18th to force a playoff for the final spot of match play. Pacific would best Saint Mary's by two strokes to win the playoff and claim the final spot for the match play portion of the tournament.
The Gaels are looking to get back to the final portion of the WCC Championships for the first time since 2024 when they advanced to match play before falling to eventual tournament champions San Diego. Saint Mary's has claimed three conference championships in its history including back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013. Their last title came in 2016 with program great Jonathan De Los Reyes winning the individual title with a conference tournament record of 19-under-par.

The team is focused and prepared so now we just need to go out and execute", said head coach Scott Hardy. "We have some familiarity with the course and experience competing in the championship that should help us. This team is deep and I look forward to seeing an entire team effort with contributions from all five guys. If we do that, the results will take care of themselves (Hardy).
