COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Saint Mary's men's golf team held strong to finish alone in third place Tuesday afternoon at the 2026 Missouri Tiger Intercollegiate. The finish marked the Gaels' third top three of the 2025-26 season and the second consecutive top three finish at the event dating back to last year.
Conditions were going to be tough all week but they were as difficult as ever on Tuesday as The Club at Old Hawthorne played more than four strokes over par with an average score of 74.5. Saint Mary's felt some of that hurt on Tuesday as they shot 10-over-par as a team but were able to grab a couple strokes back late in the round with crucial birdies from Mitchell Hoey and Avery Lazarski. Both Hoey and Lazarski had the low rounds of the day for the Gaels, carding a final round 70 (E). The even par round jumped Hoey 31 spots into the top-25 while Lazarski jumped 23 spots into the top-50.
Inigo Izuzquiza and Aidan Lee were the other two counting scores for the Gaels while redshirt sophomore James Williams put together three solid rounds as an individual, finishing in a tie for 20th at 4-over-par for his best finish of the 2025-26 season. Williams carded a 74 (+4) on Tuesday but had a low round of 1-under-par in round one back on Monday.

LOOKING AHEAD
The hectic two-week stretch for Saint Mary's will come to an end this weekend as the Gaels return to the Bay and compete at the El Macero Classic hosted by UC Davis. The event will feature three rounds over three days and is scheduled to start on Friday, April 10. Additional tournament information and live scoring can be found at smcgaels.com.
