Women's Soccer Downed by Bulldogs 3-0 on Sunday

Spokane, WA- The Saint Mary's women's soccer team dropped its West Coast Conference match against Gonzaga 3-0 from Martin Field Sunday afternoon. The Bulldog's Walker Loseno scored two goals to lead Gonzaga to the victory. With the win, Gonzaga improves to 11-8-0 overall and evens its conference record to 3-3-0. Saint Mary's falls to 8-11-0 on the season and 0-6-0 in WCC play.
The Bulldogs took advantage of a corner kick early in the game. At the 17:23-mark, Stacey Sarro connected with Walker Loseno who headed the ball past SMC goalkeeper Alicia Artuso into the back of the net for the game-winner. Gonzaga tallied 13 corner kicks in the contest.
Gonzaga would tack on one more goal before the end of the period. In the 42nd minute, Natalie Hardin found space down the sideline and then hit Sarah Hawkins with a cross that she was able to one-time into the net for the second goal of the game.
Loseno would strike again for the Bulldogs, this time in the 76th minute. Loseno was rewarded for her run when Beth Drollinger found her on the cross that she was able to volley for the goal.
Saint Mary's pressured the Bulldogs offensively, tallying 15 shots with six on goal. The Gaels were led by Sarah Churchill and Sarah Burgess who recorded three shots each. Joelle Gizzi and McKenna Belzer got off a pair of shots each.
Gonzaga recorded 17 shots with nine on goal. Offensively the Bulldogs were led by Loseno who tallied a game-high four shots with three on goal.
Gonzaga's Ashley Haugen earned the victory after making a game-high six saves en route to the shutout. SMC's Andrea Lee played 16 minutes of scoreless soccer, recording three saves while Artuso allowed three goals and made three saves.
Saint Mary's will conclude its season when it hosts a matinee against the No. 5-ranked Portland Pilots on Saturday, November 6. Kickoff is scheduled for Noon at Garaventa Field.
