WTEN | Gaels Defeat Titans in 5-2 Victory

FULLERTON, Calif. — Saint Mary's (3-3) recorded their third win of the season on Sunday as they defeated Cal State Fullerton 5-2.
The Gaels' momentum was on fire in Fullerton as they tallied six victories during the matchup against the Titans. On doubles courts, Mariia Kozyreva and Danielle McIntyre paired up and easily defeated their opposition 6-2. Doubles duo Lene Mari Hovda and Liesl Pieters kept a close match on Court 3 and ultimately prevailed with a 7-5 win to secure the doubles point.
SMC collected four wins in singles action all coming in straight sets. Pieters recorded the first win for the Gaels as the No. 6 seed which was directly followed by the two lone CSUF wins on Courts 1 and 3. Saint Mary's would then come out victorious in the next three matches as Hovda, Gabriela Tevez, and Aubane Ville each picked up wins of their own.
The Gaels will return home to host San Jose State on Friday at 6 p.m. for their first home matchup of the season.
