WTEN | Gaels Sweep SJSU in First Home Win of Season

MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's (4-3) dominated on the courts on Friday as they easily swept San Jose State 4-0 for their first victory at home and their second shutout of the season.
In doubles action, Mariia Kozyreva and Danielle McIntyre paired up to face off against SJSU's Sendar/Malsert and won 6-0 as the top doubles duo. Lene Mari Hovda and Liesl Pieters followed suit as they collected a 6-4 victory to secure the doubles point for the Gaels.
Kozyreva claimed the first singles win on Court 1 for Saint Mary's as she picked up her third win of the season in straight sets. Hovda also defeated her opponent in straight sets on Court 3 before McIntyre made a strong comeback and won 0-6, 6-3, 6-0 as the No. 5 seed to complete SMC's 4-0 win over the Spartans.
Saint Mary's will remain at home next week as they look to host Oregon on Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. before taking on Fresno State on March 1 at 11 a.m.
