MORAGA, Calif. — The Gaels (5-3) picked up a big win over Oregon (6-5) on Friday to get their weekend started on the right foot.
Oregon began the day by claiming the doubles point. The Ducks won on courts 3 and court 1, respectively, with the second match going unfinished. Chloe Goyette and Jordan Harris were tied 4-4 before the match was called.
The Gaels bounced back in singles play with two quick straight set wins. Aubane Ville defeated Madisen Olsen 6-3, 6-2 before Lene Mari Hovda took down Uxia Martinez Moral 6-0, 6-3.
The Ducks would get a singles win back on court 3 to even the match score up to 2-2 but then Danielle McIntyre won a big match, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 as the No. 5 seed. Mariia Kozyreva then clinched the match with a 6-1, 5-7, 6-3 victory on court 1.
The Gaels return back to Korth Tennis Complex for their next match on Sunday against Fresno State. First serve is at 11 a.m.
