Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's (6-12) recorded a 6-5 victory over UCONN on Saturday after making a strong comeback and scoring all six runs in the third inning to secure the win.

The Gaels played against Sacramento State in the second contest of the doubleheader while going into extra innings tied at 8-8 before the game was halted in the top of the ninth due to sunlight. Both teams will meet again in April to complete the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UCONN immediately took the lead in the first inning as they put up four straight runs before tacking on another in the top of the third. The Huskies would not hold the lead for long however as Saint Mary's scored six runs off of two hits in the bottom of the third to steal the lead from UCONN and held that lead till the end of the contest to record the win.

In the huge inning, Indya Smith scored the first run for SMC after Jayda Alaan reached on a throwing error following a sacrifice bunt to send Smith home. Hannah Chew then reached on a fielder's choice to second base and scored Nikki Alexander for an RBI before Alaan would tally the third run off a bases-loaded walk from Kenedi Lopes. Julia McCormack was then hit by pitch to send home Jordyn Oliver and Smith knocked down a single to left field to score Lopes and Bry Waters for the Gaels' final runs of the game.

Saint Mary's recorded six hits on the day while three different Gaels went 1-for-2 in the contest including Smith who also picked up two RBI's. SMC also secured four walks throughout the matchup.
