WSOC | 2021 Season Schedule Announced

SAN MATEO, Calif. — With the announcement of conference schedules today by the West Coast Conference, the Saint Mary's women's soccer 2021 fall schedule is now complete. The Gaels will play a complete slate of games after an abbreviated past season and have 20 matches lined up for the fall.

Saint Mary's will take the field for the first time in a home exhibition against UC Irvine on Thursday, Aug. 12. The season opener kicks off exactly one week later on Aug. 19 against Sacramento State at 4 p.m. in Saint Mary's Stadium. The Gaels will then travel down to Cal Poly days later for a Sunday contest on Aug. 22 for their first road match.

SMC will face San Diego State and California the following week. The Gaels host the Aztecs on Aug. 26 at 4 p.m. before taking on the Golden Bears on the 29th at 5 p.m.

UC Riverside will come to Moraga on Sept. 3 for a Friday match and Saint Mary's will take on Fresno State the same weekend in Fresno at noon on Sunday, Sept. 5. The following week, the Gaels will play three times in six times with matches scheduled versus Cal State Bakersfield at home (Sept. 10, 4 p.m.), California Baptist on the road (Sept. 12, 4 p.m.), and UC Davis at home (Sept. 16, 4 p.m.).

Saint Mary's concludes their non-conference schedule with a home matchup against Nevada, the only out-of-state school they'll face during non-league play. The game takes place on Sept. 19 at 1 p.m.

The Gaels will have a slight hiatus before starting WCC action in early October. The team's conference opener will be against San Francisco on Oct. 2 at 3:30 p.m. The following week, SMC takes on BYU in the middle of the week on Oct. 6 in Provo before returning home to face Pacific in Moraga on Oct. 9 at 1 p.m.

Portland visits Saint Mary's Stadium the following week on the 16th and the Gaels will then embark on a two-match road trip with games on Oct. 20 at Loyola Marymount and Oct. 23 against Pepperdine.

SMC rounds out the month of October with a home contest versus Gonzaga on the 30th. After facing San Diego on Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. in their final road game of the regular season, Saint Mary's will celebrate Senior Day on Nov. 6 at home against Santa Clara at 1 p.m.

The Gaels will be looking to build off their successful spring season under first-year head coach Theresa Romagnolo. The team went 4-3-2 in league play last year for their best finish since the 2013 campaign.
