WTEN | Senior Day Win for Gaels Over Zags

MORAGA, Calif. – Senior Day went just as the Gaels wanted on Saturday afternoon at the Korth Tennis Courts as the Gaels won 5-2 to improve to 10-8 overall and 5-3 in conference play.
The match start time was pushed to 2:00 p.m. to let the rain pass and the courts dry. The Zags took the doubles point even though No. 36 tandem of Jordan Harris and Mariia Kozyreva won their match 6-3 and are now 11-1 on the season.
But the Gaels owned the singles portion, taking four straight matches to clinch the win. It started with Harris defeating Adrianna Sosnowska 6-1, 6-0 and Kozyreva beating Cate Broerman 6-1, 6-2. Lene Mari Hovda topped Frederikke Svarre 6-1, 6-2 and Jocelyn Massey sealed the win with a 6-3, 6-1 over Kianna Oda.
The Zags managed to get one singles match before Julia Ronney defeated Jenna Sloan 6-1, 2-6, 6-1. Kozyreva is now 12-4 on the season and Harris has won three in a row. Massey has now won six of her last eight, and Ronney has won three in a row along with seven of her last nine.

The Geals will play their final regular season match on Saturday, April 23 at 11:00 a.m. in Provo, Utah against BYU.
