CORVALLIS, Ore. - Saint Mary's ended week two of conference play with a road defeat to the 19th ranked team in the country in Oregon State, 3-0. The Beavers kept their foot on the gas all night long, outshooting the Gaels 17-12. They scored a pair of goals in the first half with both coming within three minutes of each other. The nail in the coffin came in the 89th minute to seal the 3-0 victory for the 19th ranked Beavers.
After getting outshot 14-3 over the first 45 minutes, Saint Mary's put up nine of their own in the second half but only found the target twice, keeping the Beavers keeper relatively untested.
Jona Starek and
Fynn Allmon were the only two field players to play all 90 minutes while junior transfer
Kayvon Monfared led the team with five shot attempts in his 25 minutes off the bench.
Sam Bentley added another three saves to his season total including a pair of acrobatic saves in the first half.
LOOKING AHEAD
After six road games over their past seven, Saint Mary's will look forward to some nice home cooking with back-to-back home games against Pacific and Santa Clara. The Gaels will have a great chance to get their first win of the season as they first take on Pacific in this season's 'Think Pink Game' on Saturday, October 11th at 1:00 PM.
