MORAGA, Calif. — The Saint Mary's softball team will ride its three game unbeaten streak into the state of Colorado, where they get set to take on the Colorado State Rams and Northern Colorado Bears in their second and final out-of-state non-conference week of the season. The Gaels enjoyed a similar trip last year ahead of conference play, going 3-1 in three games at Idaho State and a single game at Utah State, and will hope to keep their momentum rolling in the Rocky Mountain States.

BEST START IN PROGRAM HISTORY IN SIGHTS
The Gaels have opened up the 2026 campaign at 17-10, and have their best start through 30 games in sight. That start didn't happen all that long ago, as just two years ago, the Gaels opened the year at 19-11 en route to a 30-24 season and their first ever West Coast Conference Title. If the Gaels take two of their first three this weekend, they would match that start, while winning the first three of this four game road trip would give them the program record of best start through the first 30 games.
CLIMBING THE STAT RANKS
For the first time this season, Saint Mary's now ranks in the top-half of the country in nearly every major statistical category, including being ranked in the top-100 in DI softball seven different categories. Headlining those categories, the Gaels rank seventh in the country with 11 triples, but also find themselves in the upper echelons of collegiate softball in fielding percentage (0.971), stolen bases (41), strikeouts (129), strikeout-to-walk ratio (1.72), K/7 (5.22), and WHIP (1.53).
ABOUT THE RAMS
The Gaels will begin their week against a familiar foe, the Colorado State Rams. Saint Mary's opened their season against the Rams, besting them 6-5 at the NorCal Kickoff in Sacramento. Since then Colorado State has run their record to 13-14, under the direction of 16th year Head Coach Jen Fisher. The Rams have demonstrated consistency both at the plate and in the circle this year. With the bat, Lauren Stucky has been nothing shy of spectacular, with a .393 average and 32 hits, including eight doubles, while in the circle, Reagan Wick boasts a 9-6 record and a 1.76 ERA. Including this year's win for the Gaels, Colorado State leads the all-time series 8-2-1.
ABOUT THE BEARS
Northern Colorado will be the second Gael opponent of the weekend, coming into the week with a 14-15 record, under the leadership of fourth year head coach Dedeann Pendleton-Helm. Winners of three of their last four, including two of three against Pacific in Stockton last week, the Bears are trending in the right direction, due in large part to offensive standout Amailee Morales. Morales holds an incredible .437 average this season, which comes as no surprise, as the senior has a career average of .352. Morales also ranks third in the country with 13 doubles. All time the Gaels are 3-3 against Northern Colorado.
