Kozyreva, Kesaris Named Preseason All-WCC

SAN BRUNO, Calif. — The West Coast Conference announced their preseason polls and All-WCC preseason teams today for both men's and women's tennis with Saint Mary's landing a player on each all-conference squad.
On the men's side, Damon Kesaris received his second straight preseason team selection despite missing significant time last spring due to injury. This fall, the senior had an incredible run by winning his ITA Regional and then advancing to the finals of the ITA Fall Championships as an unseeded competitor. Kesaris will enter the spring ranked No. 20 in the country.
Junior Mariia Kozyreva was also named to her second straight All-WCC preseason team after making First Team in both singles and doubles as a sophomore in the spring. Kozyreva ranks as the No. 15 singles player in the country heading into spring and will look to jump into the doubles rankings after spending time there last season with her partner Hind Abdelouahid.
The women's team was picked to finish fourth in the conference with 56 points, trailing only Pepperdine, San Diego, and Loyola Marymount, respectively. The men's team was chosen to finish ninth with 22 votes.
The women's team begins dual play on Jan. 31 on the road at USC while the men's team will host American River College at home on Jan. 26.
