MORAGA, Calif. — The Saint Mary's women's soccer team is reveling in its best starts to a season in the last decade, moving to six games unbeaten in their opening games. The Saint Mary's Stadium has become a fortress, with the Gaels winning all three games at home so far, outscoring their opponents 6-1. They will look to continue that this week, when they host CSU Bakersfield on Friday afternoon.Â

LAST TIME OUT
It was another productive week for the Gaels last week with a victory and a draw coming against UC Riverside at home on Friday before a goalless game following a double overtime at Fresno State.Â
For the second time this season, the late heroics of
Suzuna Shibukawa secured the victory for Saint Mary's against the Highlanders when she tucked her right footed shot in to the far corner from
Taylour Mendoza's cross with ten minutes left to play. The junior midfielder had a chance to do the same in the closing stages of regulation against the Bulldogs when a penalty was awarded in the 84th minutes. However her spot kick was saved in a game where both keepers where regularly tested. For the Gaels,
Taylor Poland made six stops to earn a second consecutive clean sheet.Â
ABOUT CSU BAKERSFIELD
The Roadrunners have had a difficult start to the season and are yet to get off the mark in the win column after five games. In fact, they have only been able to record one tie, coming against Sacramento State when they converted a penalty to level the score which came in their opening game of the season. Since then, they have lost four games, managing just one goal while conceding 11. The Gaels will look to capitalize on their defensive struggles and low confidence after their 5-0 defeat to Eastern Washington on Sunday.Â
