GAELS OUTLOOK
Gaels Go 2-0 After Hot Shooting in Seattle to Down Redhawks…
Saint Mary's secured the perfect 2-0 week Saturday afternoon after catching fire from deep and outscoring the Redhawks 50-31 in the second half to improve to 4-5 in WCC play. For the first time this season, Saint Mary's had four players finish the game in double-figures including Addi Wedin who led the Gaels with eleven points on 66% shooting. Helping lead the offensive spark in the second half was sister Ella Wedin, who made three three-pointers to finish with nine points in 23 minutes off the bench.
The Gaels found themselves down 22-17 at the break, putting up back-to-back single-digit quarters. They broke out of their offensive funk though and scored 23 points on 69% shooting in the third quarter to flip the game and take a 40-39 lead heading into the fourth. Saint Mary's closed the third quarter on a 7-0 run and extended that scoring run all the way to 17 to taken an 11-point lead in the fourth. Ella Wedin came off the bench and drilled two three-pointers during the stretch and Abigail Shoff and Addi Wedin cashed in on threes of their own as Saint Mary's hit five in the quarter.
Shoff Hits Shot at the Buzzer to Sink Pepperdine, 53-51…
No shocker here as Saint Mary's took another game down to the wire but came out victorious this time as Abigail Shoff hit a pull-up jumper at the buzzer to down Pepperdine and win their third conference game of the season, 53-51 on Thursday night. The Gaels were down three points going into the fourth quarter but went on to hold the Waves to a season low 51 points en route to the dramatic two-point victory.
Edie Clarke shined with 16 points to lead all scorers while four other players had six more points on the night. Addi Wedin had nine points and hit a big three-pointer in the fourth quarter that helped put Saint Mary's up 43-42 with 5:37 remaining. Pepperdine hit a massive second chance three-pointer with six seconds remaining to tie the game but after an SMC timeout to advance the ball, Abigail Shoff would take the in-bound and hit the pull-up jumper as time expired to give the Gaels the 53-51 victory. The win snapped their two-game losing streak after a pair of narrow defeats to Washington State in overtime and Santa Clara the week prior.
Saint Mary's Leads WCC Defensively, Allowing 57.5 PPG…

That mark ranks 39th in all of Division I and is the lowest opponent PPG total in over a decade in program history. The Gaels also continue to lead the WCC in opponent three-point Percentage (28.4%), rank third in turnovers forced with over 18 a game and rank second with 10.0 steals per game.
