PRIOR TO SAINT MARY'S: Four-year varsity letter at Santiago High School... Spent first three years of his high school career at University High School in Irvine before transferring to Santiago High School for his senior season... As a senior at Santiago High School, Berger recorded a 1.30 ERA including a standout six-inning shutout performance against no. 1 Corona High School... As a junior at University HS, Berger finished the season with a 0.99 ERA, 72 strikeouts, a 0.68 WHIP and five complete games... Named All-Pacific Coast League Honorable Mention as a freshman, a two-time First Team All-PCL selection and Team Pitcher of the Year as a sophomore and senior... Played his club ball with SoCal Birds.
