MORAGA, Calif. – Saint Mary's Women's Tennis will host two matchups against familiar WCC competitors this weekend, University of San Francisco this Saturday followed by Santa Clara University on Sunday.

LAST TIME OUT
Saint Mary's Women's Tennis had their home opener at the Korth Tennis Courts and got a 5-2 win over San Jose State Wednesday afternoon. The anticipation and excitement of getting to play at home was noticeable and carried into the matches against the Spartans.

The party got started with the Gaels taking the doubles point as the No. 44 tandem in the country of
Mariia Kozyreva and
Jordan Harris defeated Oleksan Andrieiva and Lara Marco Mas 6-2, and
Jocelyn Massey and
Julia Ronney beat Rozalina Youseva and Irena Muradyan 6-3.

Julia Ronney got the first singles match win in convincing fashion by defeating Youseva 6-1, 6-0. Massey defeated Marco Mas 6-0, 6-1 and
Lene Mari Hovda beat Muradyan 6-2, 6-1, as the Gaels had sealed the match at that point.

No. 63 Kozyreva topped Alba Pedrero Galindo 7-6 (3), 6-1 to get the Gaels fifth point before the Spartans won the last two matches. That's now five wins in a row for Hovda, Massey, and Kozyreva.

The Gaels were scheduled to compete against UCLA the following week, but has been canceled due to health and safety protocols within the Bruin program.

ABOUT USF
The Gaels are taking the Dons out of their comfort zone this upcoming weekend by competing outside of the city. USF Women's Tennis remain undefeated on their home court, but struggle to find the top on the road with an 1-4 away record. The Dons will be coming into Moraga on a nice rhythm of five wins in a row, all five being home wins.

ABOUT SANTA CLARA
Santa Clara's match in Moraga will the Bronco's fourth of the week on Sunday. The Broncos beat Seattle U, 4-0, on Monday in a neutral site match at San Luis Obispo, California and fell to Cal Poly, 4-0, on Tuesday. The loss against Cal Poly snapped a five-match win streak for the Broncos.

JennaMarie Gordon has won three-straight singles matches and Giulia Hayer leads the team with six singles victories this spring. Katherine Petty leads the Broncos with five doubles wins in the spring. Â
